St. Patrick's Day Blog-Hop Party with Giveaway!

I'm writing this post a little in advance of the "wearin' of the Green," so I can link up with Quilter's Fun Blog.  They're hosting a St. Patrick's Day Blog-Hop Party with Giveaways.  The giveaway will be open from today through March 23rd.

Here's my giveaway:

It's a set of Carolina Lily paper-pieced foundation tissues; the pattern was designed by Cindi Edgerton, who does wonderful foundation designs.  There are enough papers to make up to a king-size quilt, and lots of alternate designs.

To be entered for this giveaway, leave me a comment about what you like about Foundation piecing, and become a follower on my blog.  If you're already a follower, just tell me.  If you don't have a blog, make sure you leave me your email address so I can contact you.  Given that this give-away doesn't weigh too much, I will ship internationally.

Make sure you link back to Quilter's Fun Blog tomorrow after midnight to see what everybody else is giving away this week.  Have a great St. Patrick's Day....we're going to have lamb stew....and maybe an Irish coffee or two.....yum....

Good luck,

Chatty Kathy.

I've only done 1 paper pieced block so far, and it was the hardest thing I have ever done, LOL. I had to rip out seams 5 times. Guess it's definitely one that shouldn't be done at night.

I have only done one paper piecing class. The instructor was not very good so I was discouraged but would love to try it again. I did buy a book to try and teach myself. This would go a long way in that goal.

Thanks for letting us visit. I have never done foundation piecing. Is it the same as paper piecing? I think I've done one of those in our quilter's choice group where we all make blocks for a year for one another. So, I've done ONE! It was fun, I have to say. Generally, I'm an appliquer...I'll go and sign up to follow you right after this. I design Sunbonnet Sue quilts. You can see me at http://www.prairiecottagecorner.blogspot.com

I like paper piecing or foundation piecing for all the times that one needs to do a pattern with precision pieces. It makes it so much easier to be accurate. I also did use paper piecing for a group of women that had not done much quilting and they wanted to make a group quilt. It made it possible for the blocks all to be the same size.
Thanks for participating in the blog hop.
Regards from Western Canada,
Anna

So this looks like an easier way to do it than the traditional way.I am all for learning an easier way to do things. Thanks for your giveaway.

Some designs are so much easier with paper piecing. Some just can't be done without it. I use the "paperless paper piecing" technique where you sew right next to the paper, not through the paper. Carolina Lilies has always been one of my favorite patterns.

Foundation piecing is still a bit of mystery for me. I've tried a wee bit of it. It's still a bit like rubbing my stomach and patting my head at the same time. I heard that using the other side of your brain keeps your brain healthy, so perhaps foundation piecing will keep me young(er) :)
I'm a follower here to your north in Maryland. Thank you for participating in the blog hop! Enjoy our fab-u-ous weather!!
